Day 9: And Then we Rest

Over the last few days most of us have struggled through some sort of illness (nothing serious but intensely unpleasant!) So we were all immensely grateful when our fearless leaders, Hakeem and Jane, suggested we take the day mostly off. After breakfast our group gathered on Jane's dance floor (her hotel room was enormous!) to discuss our workshops, particularly topics for each session. With a group of 13 teacher candidates, Jane, and Hakeem, we quickly came up with some amazing ideas.

Afterwards a few of us visited the Nafasi Art Space, a space for many different artistic expressions by local Dar es Salaam artists. We met a famous cartoonist, many painters and photographers, and fabulous dancers. Then we went to a nearby market where we bartered for souvenirs (not always successfully!). Late afternoon we returned to the hotel where we rested up for our big travel day to Rwanda the next day. All in all it was a productive day of workshop prep and much needed rest!
